This is a question I am frequently asked by women at the end of their pregnancy, as they prepare for what is to come next.

The end of pregnancy is a time of waiting and wondering whether the aches and twinges will turn into contractions.

The truth is that the beginnings of labour can be subtle, taking time to build and change, with indications that labour may be starting soon.
